Genealogy Software
There are many computer programs are available which can help to organize and file information about the ancestors and relatives whom you have discovered. You input the information into the computer and the software files the people according to their relationship. You can even generate printed copies of any of the charts for your files.
One of the biggest advantages to using one of these programs is the ease of transferring the information from one person to another. If you happen to meet someone in your research travels who is a very distant relative of yours, who also has input their information into the computer, you can very easily get copies of each other’s information by simply making copies of their files on a CD-ROM. In the absence of a computer, you would either have to make photocopies or copy everything by hand, which would be very time consuming.
